Speech, Language and Communication Hub
Speech, language and communication is embedded throughout our practice at Little Peanuts, with a focus on it throughout the nursery. We provide a language rich environment for all children and SLC is a golden thread in all our play and daily interactions.
Little Peanuts is part of the Early Talk for York project and has reached the top level of the accreditation.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Staff have specific speech, language and communication training and we are continually working to develop our skills and knowledge. All staff are trained in Elklan’s ‘Communication Counts’ and Little Peanuts has been awarded Communication Friendly Setting status.
We use the WellComm toolkit to monitor all children’s language and communication development. You can read about how we work with families to support children’s language development here -
Little Peanuts offers peer support and mentoring for other settings and is a Speech, Language and Communication Hub for the city of York.
